Therapeutic & Executive Function Coach
Teshawn completed his MA in Social Justice and Equity Studies at Brock University, and his BA in Honours Sociology from McMaster University along with an Applied Business Studies Certificate from Mohawk College. He is passionate about both self-advocacy and advocacy for marginalized groups, and brings a unique set of skills and experiences to our team. Teshawn recently published a manuscript from his major research paper in an academic journal titled, “Racism and black male student-athlete experiences in a Canadian University”.
Teshawn comes to us with valuable experience in the Child Welfare system, working with children, youth and families both in homes and in the community in an investigation and support capacity. He also found an outlet for his passion for mentorship and counselling during his post-secondary education where he worked with students to provide accommodations in Accessibility Services and in his post-grad studies as a Teacher’s Assistant where he provided a safe and inclusive space for learning.
Teshawn delivers DBT and CBT concepts to the clients that he works with in a way that is fun and relatable in his individual sessions and in groups. His calm and approachable disposition helps him to build rapport and connection with the children, youth and teens he coaches, as he innately understands the importance of working collaboratively with clients and their families.
Teshawn’s strength-based, affirming and inclusive approach helps to empower clients to grow in confidence and capability, and he enjoys celebrating their accomplishments as they develop effective skills and strategies.
Teshawn is an avid sports, anime, and video game enthusiast. He played varsity football at McMaster University and enjoys playing basketball as often as possible. In Teshawn’s spare time, he enjoys staying active, gaming, and spending time with his family and two dogs.
