Dawn Owen [CYW]

Dawn comes to NowWhat with a wealth of certification and experience in fields related to mental health, addiction, health and safety, Indigenous trauma response, crisis intervention and behaviour therapy. She has an extensive autism background and has worked with neurodivergent and high-needs children, youth and young adults for over 30 years.  Her experience includes specialized in-home behavioural support with families in crisis, supporting youth in the correctional system as a Child and Youth Counsellor, and working as concurrent worker in mental health and addictions at Six Nations.

Dawn is proficient in American Sign Language (ASL), and also happens to be a 5th degree black belt, holding ten world titles under the World Organization of Mixed Martial Arts (WOMMA). Her impressive martial arts achievements speak to her discipline and determination, and she has a passion for helping neurodivergent kids learn mindfulness, self-regulation and distress tolerance skills via martial arts.

Dawn brings a unique blend of skills, knowledge and compassion to her work. At NowWhat, Dawn provides support in group, in-home, and 1:1 sessions to neurodivergent individuals and their families, with a particular specialty supporting those with less verbal communication.
