CLAIRE ARKETT

She/Her

Registered Social Worker

Claire Arkett [RSW, MSW] brings to NowWhat? an impassioned excitement for working with children, youth and teens to explore and deepen their individuality and highlight their rockstar moments. Claire’s background includes community counselling, accessibility work in post-secondary education, mental health crisis work, and addictions. She has worked with clients to explore issues including anxiety, depression, life transitions, identity development, interpersonal relationship conflict, grief, and trauma.

Claire draws from many modalities in her work, including DBT, CBT, ACT, and Narrative Therapy as well as working within the frameworks of attachment, harm-reduction, and LGBTQIA+ affirmative and trauma-informed care. Claire considers the therapeutic relationship to be paramount to the healing process. She works from a client-centered and adaptive perspective to create a calm, supportive space where kids and teens can feel open to process their experiences, learn new skills for emotional regulation and social engagement, and feel encouraged and emboldened to embrace their unique self.

Outside of work, Claire enjoys hiking, swimming, singing, and playing video games and board games. Claire also brings her enthusiasm for campaign-style board games to her work with the Dungeons and Dragons group programming at NowWhat.
