Cathy Penny [SSW, CDP, BA, BSW, MSW, RRP, RSW] is a compassionate, trauma-trained therapist who engages in client-centered practice to help people manage well through stressors, life transitions, and a wide range of mental health conditions.She has been counseling for over 15 years and incorporates multiple evidence-based modalities into her practice, for individuals, couples, and families. These include Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Trauma-Focused CBT, Narrative Therapy, Solution Focused Therapy and SPACE (Supportive Parenting for Anxious Childhood Emotions).

Cathy has specialized in anxiety, depression, personality disorders, and trauma, as well as working with people living with disabilities. She has also helped clients address esteem issues, set boundaries, improve communication, and delve into their core values to help improve their quality of life. Cathy is also a “return to work specialist,” helping people return to work after absences due to stress, illness or injury.

She has a special certification to assist with workplace advocacy, and career planning and development. Her experience as a rehabilitation professional includes assisting individuals who have experienced concussions and acquired brain injuries.  Cathy has completed a Master’s Degree in Social Work and is both a Registered Social Worker and a Registered Rehabilitation Specialist. She identifies as an indigenous counselor and is an NIHB-approved mental health service provider.
