Neurotypical brains soak up and reproduce speech sounds and patterns with ease from infancy. Difficulties with speech and language are sometimes an isolated challenge, and it’s completely normal for many sounds to take up to 7 years to develop naturally, but speech difficulties can also be an early indicator of neurodiversity – brains that process information differently.
Speech-language pathologists (SLPs) work to prevent, assess, diagnose, and treat issues with:
- Speech Articulation
- Social communication
- Swallowing disorders
Our SLP Asia Laviolette treats both children and adults using age-appropriate games, strategies and activities in 60 minute blocks. Speech therapy can be helpful in early Autism intervention, when managing Learning Disabilities & Communication Disorders, and when correcting general articulation challenges.
Both individual and group settings can be effective when tackling speech and language challenges and we often have fun, engaging children’s groups running with a speech and language focus (see our Calendar for current program offerings). Contact us or talk to our Case Management team today to see if speech therapy is a good fit for you. Individual sessions with our Speech Therapists are covered by most extended benefit plans & OAP funding.
