Who is it For?

  • Girls (assigned and identified) who have graduated grade 8 and are looking for a smooth, confident transition into high school in September 2023

    What is involved?

While starting high school can be an exciting time, it can also bring about feelings of nervousness and apprehension. As with starting anything new, feeling prepared can help to calm some of those nerves, which is why we have created this group. Being surrounded by others who are also on this journey can help us to feel less alone and better equipped to handle the change.

On this 2-day adventure, our facilitators will be guiding the girls through specific topics that include:

    • Building confidence and improving positive self-image and self-talk
    • Building and maintaining healthy friendships with clear boundaries, communication, and effective conflict-resolution skills
    • Exploring personal values and understanding their impact on the decisions we make as they pertain to high school – who we want to be friends with, what activities we want to get involved in, how we want to show up in our course work
    • How to plan and organize school work to never fall behind or miss a deadline
    • How to find school/life balance and manage stress related to heavier workloads
    • Tricks to improve focus and increase productivity, motivation, and time management

Topics will be addressed through meaningful discussions, fun group activities, hands-on action, and self-reflection. Over these two days, we will focus on each of these topics, exploring what they are, how they impact us, and the coping skills and strategies to manage them like a pro!
