So much of adult life is holding it together – at work, at home, for the people who count on you. If you’ve landed here, something has probably been telling you it’s time to get some support of your own. We’re glad you listened.

NowWhat offers 1:1 therapy and coaching for adults, in person at our adult and teen clinic in Ancaster and virtually across Ontario, from a multi-disciplinary team with deep roots in mental health and neurodivergence. No referral needed, no diagnosis required, and no waiting for things to get worse before you reach out.

Yes, we support children and families too –  that is where NowWhat began. But a large part of our team works with adults, in a separate space built for exactly that.

Where would you like to start?

Most people arrive knowing roughly what is wrong, but not what to call it or who to ask for. Pick whichever of these sounds closest – you don’t have to get it right, and we will help you sort it out when you get in touch.  It can take meeting more than one person to find a good fit – and that’s completely OK.

Anxiety, depression & mental health
Feeling anxious, low, burnt out – or just not yourself.
ADHD & neurodivergence
Diagnosed late, still wondering, or tired of white-knuckling it.
Work, burnout & return to work
When work is the problem – or going back to it is.
Life transitions & relationships
Couples & family counselling, separation, divorce, career change, becoming a parent, navigating loss & grief.
Also for adults
Speech therapy, concussion and stroke recovery, executive function assessments and coaching.

Feeling anxious, low, burnt out – or just not yourself?

You don’t need to be in crisis to deserve support. Our Social Workers and Registered Psychotherapists work with adults on anxiety, depression, trauma and PTSD, grief, OCD, relationship challenges, and burnout, in a practical, non-judgmental space where you set the pace.

Therapy at NowWhat isn’t about lying on a couch being analyzed. It’s a working conversation: understanding what’s driving how you feel, and building real tools to change it. Our therapists draw on a wide variety approaches adapted to each unique individual, including EFT, IFS, CBT, DBT, ACT, EMDR, and narrative therapy, and they’ll explain, in plain language, what they’re suggesting and why.  The goal is to get curious with you, help you understand your unique neuroprofile and needs, ditch the shame and judgment, get to the heart of what might need to shift to make way for growth, and champion you as the unique human you are.

Diagnosed late? Still wondering? Or tired of white-knuckling it?

Many adults reach us after a lifetime of working twice as hard to look like they’re coping – sometimes prompted by a recent diagnosis, sometimes by a child’s. Whether you have a formal ADHD or autism diagnosis or not, our neurodiversity-affirming team can help you understand how your brain works and build systems that work with it, not against it.

When work is the problem (or going back to work)

Workplace stress, burnout, a stress or medical leave, a workplace that doesn’t fit how you think – these are some of the most common reasons adults come to us. Our team supports you through the whole arc: recovering, planning a sustainable return, figuring out what accommodations would help, and where useful, working directly with your employer, doctor, or insurer so you don’t have to navigate them alone.

For the chapters that change everything

Some seasons ask more of us than others. We support adults through relationship challenges, separation and divorce – including collaborative co-parenting & dual household planning, with particular experience supporting neurodivergent adults through the process – as well as career change, becoming a parent, caregiving for others, loss and grief of all kinds, and the transitions that don’t have tidy names. Our Case Management team can also help you map out a plan when you’re juggling several of these at once, or when multiple family members need to coordinate supports.

Also for adults

Adults also come to NowWhat for speech therapy – after a concussion or brain injury, as part of stroke recovery, or for executive function assessment and support strategies – including self-advocacy and social communication support for autistic adults and adults with cognitive differences.

Therapy or coaching – which do I need?

This is the question we are asked most often. The short answer is that psychotherapy supports complex mental health challenges, and therapeutic coaching supports social, emotional, and mental wellness, practical executive function skill development & ‘body doubling’ in real time with the actual tasks that have you frozen or overwhelmed, cross-neurotype communication, neurodivergent identity, self-regulation and more.  Many adults end up doing a blend of both, sometimes with the same therapist, and sometimes with someone else joining your support team.

Our adult and teen space

Adult and teen appointments are held at our clinic on Cormorant Road in the Ancaster Business Park – a separate space from our family clinic, with accessible entrance (elevator), free parking, and a quiet waiting area. It was designed for grown-ups; a calm, lower-stimulation environment well suited for sit-down sessions.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need a referral or a diagnosis to book?
No. You can contact us directly, and you don’t need a diagnosis of any kind to work with us — many of our adult clients come to us precisely because they are still figuring out what is going on.
Isn’t NowWhat a children’s clinic?
We are both. NowWhat has always supported children and families, and we still do – but a large part of our team works with adults, and we have a separate adult and teen clinic on Cormorant Road in Ancaster built for exactly that. Adults come to us for therapy, ADHD and executive function coaching, workplace support, and more – with and without their families!
Can we work together online?
Yes. Therapy and counselling are available virtually to adults anywhere in Ontario, and in person at our Ancaster clinic. Coaching services, like ADHD and executive function coaching, are available virtually across North America.
Will my insurance cover it?
Many extended health plans cover services delivered by Social Workers (RSW) and Registered Psychotherapists (RP) – check your plan for those categories. We provide a receipt for every session that you can submit to your plan for reimbursement. We do not direct bill insurers.
How much does it cost?
Initial appointments are $250, and ongoing sessions run $180–$225/hr depending on the service and practitioner. Full details are on our rates page.
How soon can I start?
We are currently accepting new adult clients. Once you have completed our intake form, our Therapeutic Care Coordinator will review it and call you – usually within one to two weeks – to match you with the right person.
What’s the difference between psychotherapy and coaching, and which do I need?
Psychotherapy works on your mental and emotional health – anxiety, depression, trauma, and how you relate to yourself and others – and is a controlled act that can only be provided by registered psycotherapists, social workers, psychologists, psychiatrists, and a few other designations when they have received specialized mental health training – like nurses, doctors, and occupational therapists.
Therapeutic coaching is practical, often hands-on, and forward-facing: building skills, systems, and strategies for daily life, work, and study. Plenty of adults benefit from both; most of the time they don’t come apart (the task paralysis combined with shame and a solid dose of anxiety that you feel over calling the dentist?  We can open your calendar and book the appointment together, right in your session) – and the support you need can either be provided by the same therapist or with a team approach when that’s the right call.  You don’t need to decide alone – we’re on Team You and we’ll walk it out with you.
I’m a parent of a child you already support. Can I get help for myself too?
Yes, in most cases – and you wouldn’t be the first. Many parents begin their own therapy or ADHD coaching with us after seeing what the right support has done for their child. Working with a team that already knows your family can be a real advantage, and our family-ecosystems approach is a key point of difference at NowWhat.  If there is a possible conflict of interest, we’ll be clear with you about it and offer some alternative options for outside support.
I live outside Ontario. Can you still help?
Our coaching services are available virtually across North America. Therapy and counselling are limited to clients in Ontario, because our therapists are registered with Ontario’s regulatory colleges. If you are unsure which applies to you, contact us, and we will point you in the right direction – including to local options if we are not the right fit.
